The NFL story was not a "smear" or a "hit job" on him. Most people actually hate his guts and don't want to be associated with him.

Restaurants don't want him coming in to their establishments. People rarely invite him to non-partisan events.
His few encounters with actual, non-dittohead people always let him know he's not wanted.

And yet he continues to be a sanctimonious prick with not a scrap of humility, compassion or common sense.

I'd pity him if he DIDN'T cause so much damage to the political and social discourse.
