That said, it is a shame that the world allows this kind of people to survive and gain wealth from the misery of others. I knew someone who sent a letter (this was before prayer phone lines) asking a televangelist to pray for them, and they received a letter back telling them how much money to send in order to get the prayer. This stupid idiots was related to me. Shame, shame,shame. :blush:

So yes, people listen to him. They use it as a way to feel like they are good Christians without having to go to church. Besides, he makes them feel good about themselves because they are better than all those dark skinned people out there, and all them poor people out there, and all them foreign people out there. Well, better than everybody out there that is different than them. :mad:

Pat Robertson and Charles Taylor, Liberian dictator

According to a June 2, 1999, article in The Virginian-Pilot, Taylor had extensive business dealings with televangelist Pat Robertson. According to the article, Taylor gave Robertson (who also had business dealings with dictator Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire) the rights to mine for diamonds in Liberia's mineral-rich countryside. According to two Operation Blessing pilots who reported this incident to the state of Virginia for investigation in 1994, Robertson used his Operation Blessing planes to haul diamond-mining equipment to Robertson's mines in Liberia, despite the fact that Robertson was telling his 700 Club viewers that the planes were sending relief supplies to the victims of the genocide in Rwanda. The subsequent investigation by the state of Virginia concluded that Robertson diverted his ministry's donations to the Liberian diamond-mining operation, but Attorney General of Virginia Mark Earley (Republican/Evangelical) blocked any potential prosecution against Robertson.

Taylor Led National Patriotic Front of Liberia that initiated and participated in the Liberian Civil War charged with numerous abuses including massacres, torture, kidnapping and political assassinations. An estimated 50,000 and 200,000 people killed, and more than two million people forced from their homes.

Tied to the RUF rebels in Sierra Leone, which are accused of the use of child soldiers, killing, amputation and other atrocities . Said to have ties to Al-Qaeda.

Indicted on 654 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity by Special Court for Sierra Leone. His trial at The Hague on 11 counts opened June 4, 2007, but on August 20, 2007, Taylor recieved a postponement of the trial until January 7, 2008. Prosecution cross examinations are going on currently.
