Russia bans aromatic herbs for smoking

Russia has put a number of popular smoking herbs on a list of controlled substances, the government website reported Thursday.

It features such exotic herbs as Salvia Divinorum, Argyreia Nervosa and Nymphaea Caerulea.

The herbs, until recently easily available at street kiosks across Russia, as well as from online stores, were tested and found to be dangerous to human health and life.

Salvia Divinorum, which translates to diviner's sage, can be chewed, smoked, or taken as a tincture to produce experiences ranging from laughter to much more intense and profoundly altered states. Argyreia Nervosa, also known as the Hawaiian Baby Woodrose or Woolly Morning Glory, has hallucinogenic properties. Nymphaea Caerulea, or Blue Egyptian Water Lily, has been proved to have mild psychoactive properties.

I have no problem with regulating this herb. I have taken shrooms and acid well over 200 times over the last 25 years and will continue to do so. However, I have smoked Salvia twice and will never do that again. It was powerful and confusing....I saw things that were not there and went places that I could never imagine. I came out scared and confused.

salvia just screws you up, and has no pleasant side effects. Perhaps others might disagree, but I've never heard anything good except that it was cheap and legal here awhile back.

and you've yet to see things that "were not there" while taking either? You're either taking incredibly low doses or your dealer is ripping you off. Shrooms........OK, organic. Acid? You have to be nuts taking something some bathtub chemist has concocted. Who knows what they put in there?

I'll stick to all natural products, thank you. But you're free to do whatever you want with your mind. That's one of the great things about living in America! ;)

I think it's still legal in most states.
