The Pledge
Sometimes, in order to rescue a country, the citizens must rise up and protect the government from itself. I believe this is that moment.

Current levels of debt are unsustainable. We are watching the destruction of a once-great nation before our eyes. However, political cowards of all stripes refuse to acknowledge that our taxation rates are simply too low, and that the revenue being raised is insufficient to maintain the level of government the American people must have it order to maintain a reasonable and equitable standard of living.

The Pledge:

I am blessed to make a sufficiently high income that I gained great benefit from the Bush tax cuts. Therefore, after significant consultation between my wife and myself, we decided that starting with the 2009 tax year, we will pay our taxes not based on current rates, but based on pre-Bush tax cut rates. Put simply, we will voluntarily raise our own taxes, and send the additional in with our tax return this year (and hereafter until rates are raised to a more reasonable level.)

I love making the income I make. But I love my country more. This problem can be fixed.... if those of us with the means to fix the problem step up to fix it.
