via the American Family Association, which clearly shortened this AP story to edit out the non-Fundie POVs:

Seminary president warns of hit film's worldview
Associated Press - 1/14/2010 7:30:00 AM

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - A seminary president says Christian parents whose children have seen Avatar should talk to them about the movie's philosophical bent.

Rev. Alex McFarland of Southern Evangelical Seminary says Avatar presents a pantheistic world view, in which God is everything and everything is part of God.

He says the film also presents a negative view of capitalism, the military and, implicitly, of America.

McFarland says Christian parents whose children have seen Avatar should ask what they thought of the movie, and then explain their own beliefs.

While children can't be shielded from everything, McFarland says they should be taught to discern the messages in the films they see.

6. Seems like the Rev. has described what God is supposed to be about.
Father, son, and spirit.. that God has created everything and is a part of everything.. AND wasn't it Jesus who turned over the tables within the temple. AND what about Jesus and Peace speaks to those of endless war? Seems to me this idiot is the anti-thesis of what Jesus and Christianity is supposed to be about. Stupid, pathetic, dangerous fundies.

10. The story-line of Avatar is not "Capitalism"
Capitalism IS the mutual exchange of goods resulting in maximum net global benefit/utility.
Capitalism IS NOT forcefully taking resources when no market solution exists.
In a truly capitalistic scenario, no transaction would take place without a tenable market solution.
The movie more accurately portrayed Fascism.

However, of course the film paints a bad picture of America and American politics.
That's what we do... invade nations because we want their rescources.
The realism and personal association with such a plot is one facet film that makes the film so riveting.

I saw the movie and thought it was excellent. Easily the best 3-D movie I've ever seen.
Cameron creates yet another instant classic.

13. But denote....
...he believes that is Capitalism. Churches teaching economics in their vision....kind of scary huh?

The state separated from church, but apparently church decided to unite with state, if they liked it or not.

14. Yeah... he seems prety ignorant. Somewhere someone needs to tightening his leash/muzzle.
The really scary part is his beliefs are shared by many.
I do say this as a Believer in Chrisianity and (regulated) capitalism.

18. Oh, I'm sure that the kids will be just so interested in a philosophical discussion about Avatar.
The message the fundies really want to shield their kids from is the critique of corporate greed, and the domination and rape of other cultures.

23. James Cameron sees Avatar as cautionary environmental tale
"I'm not trying to make people feel guilty... I just want them to internalize a sense of respect and a sense of taking responsibility for the stewardship of the earth.. and I think this film can do that by creating an emotional reaction."

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/greenhouse/post/2009/12/james-cameron-sees-avatar-as-environmental-warning/1

but it is easier for them to ignore this message and insert their own interpretation of the film.
