Tiger Woods donating $3 million to Wyclef Jean for Haiti support

According to the NY Daily News and Rap Mogul Russell Simmons, Tiger Woods, the World's Greatest Golfer, is establishing a $3 million aid donation consisting of doctors and supplies to Wyclef Jean as part of his Haiti recovery support efforts.

Earlier, Tiger Woods was considering the donation, but in this update, he's done it.

The original Daily News report was that Simmons said "Tiger Woods is working on sending a mobile hospital with 50 EMTs to go set up a triage."

days to do this...guess his Handlers are a bit slow when it comes to 'sympathy.'

He is doing this solely to get points from the public and to repair his reputation.

Gee, wonder if his buddy, Michael Jordan, is anteing up...a man who doesn't believe in tipping wait staff.

74. Your post begs for forgiveness...
Cynical and disgusting remark. It takes a special breed of person to throw salt on a 3 million dollar donation to people help who are dying and languishing in hell on earth. Or should I ask: is every epicly good thing you do in your life (assuming you've done anything of the sort) merely a coverup or a diversion from past mistakes?

53. and he has to
PUBLICIZE his 'generosity.'

Tell the world that a rich man who follows a little white ball around cares about others. $3 million is like $100 to me.

He and Michael Jordan could have been such great forces for justice and equality...but they liked living in the rich, elite world and didn't feel rocking the boat was worth it.

They let Nike and other corporations exploit their workers so they could have millions in endorsements.

Sorry...I ain't buying.

The relief is real and the people of Haiti will have the benefit of his donation. So, good on Tiger for doing this.

Redemption is a tricky road, and only Tiger knows what's truly in Tiger's heart. But he could have done nothing, of course.

Tiger's foundation is saying they are looking into seeing how he would help, so I certainly don't think it's a done deal that he is donating 3 millions and to this particular foundation. As for Russell Simmons, Tiger's foundation hasn't even heard from him.

Why would you "hope" that Tiger would sleep with anyone?

What's it to you?

Quite frankly, I would hope that he would find someone he wants to be faithful to. That's what I would hope for him (and everyone else, for that matter).

72. He is offering much needed assistance
I don't know the man personally, only what I have read about him (which I personally do not care for). That aside, he is helping to provide much needed help to Haiti. So what if he made his fortune in golf and this could be "pocket" change to him? He is DOING SOMETHING and they are in desperate need for any kind of help that they can get. To me, helping the people of Haiti is the bottom line and I don't give a rat's ass if the help comes from a man who may or may not be a serial adulterer (which is no one's business but him and his wife).

You really have that VERY WRONG. In 2007 Tiger Woods gave $9.5 million to organisations including the Tiger Woods Learning Center funded by the Tiger Woods Foundation. Even more in 2008 and 2009.

<http://www.looktothestars.org/news/221-oprah-tops-celebrity-philanthropy-a-list>

It's really sad that this man has to be constantly slandered by people just because he is successful.

:wtf: has he done? Cured Cancer? Ended worker exploitation in Nike plants overseas?

He chases a little white ball around. As Mark Twain said: "Golf is a good walk ruined."

Funny how he funnels his around all of his 'foundations.'

Tiger Woods is not an enlightened individual. He never stands up for those treated unfairly. His wife can't go to Augusta...he doesn't care. Just so he can play there, who cares?

No, this dude doesn't care. Why do DUers love him? I don't get it.

Yele was, among other things, promoting Haitian culture and these programs probably included things like benefit concerts and the like. To say that they are using the money in response to the quake on these sort of things is questionable, IMO.

58. I could care less about Tiger's personal life.
To quote Abrahm Lincoln, "Show me a man without vice, and I'll show you a man without virtue."

Good on 'ya, Tiger.

63. This is actually not quite true
Tiger will be doing something, but not what Russell Simmons had tweeted.

But good on him for doing something.

65. Good going Tiger
and some reports are saying Yele is being investigated. Last I heard they give about 70% of donations received.

Better than the United Way use to do at ten cents on the dollar.

68. Just because Russell Simmons tweeted it, doesn't make it so.

"Russell Simmons now admits he jumped the gun when he said Tiger Woods was donating $3 million to help out Haiti -- but really, that's the least of Tiger's troubles."
