1. Why can't you say which company? |
|
I'm just curious, what the secretiveness is all about.
It's not as if you're revealing personal information, esp. since you already said that the company is "HUGE".
Just a minor point, though. Maybe I'm just not getting something.

2. What does it matter? The OP declines to state the name. |
|
That is her/his privilege. Maybe the company asked that it not be revealed for whatever reason.

4. because i'm at work now. |

hint hint.
as a lot of us here, i'm sure, i prefer not to leave a bread crumb trail for anyone, as to not have anything i say here used against me at work.
CYA. that's all.

5. Nice Mine is doing a similar thing |
|
I wrote in a different thread that I work for a big pharma member. Not always proud of that but they are doing a 2:1 match to a group of organizations.
The Name Redacted Foundation will match two-for-one contributions made by employees in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to the following organizations assisting disaster relief efforts in Haiti. • AmeriCares • American Red Cross • CARE • Catholic Medical Mission Board • Direct Relief International • Doctors Without Borders • Partners in Health • Project Hope • Save the Children
It's nice to know sometimes that even the corporate suits can give a damn.

Wish I knew the name so I could support it in some way.
Having said that, if anyone has Sprint, drop it! They're the ONLY cell phone company charging for texting donations. Shame on them!

15. Good on you and your Company |

FWIW, we had a "Pay for Casual Day" event today. We do it quite often. Pay a minimum of $5 to dress casually and the money is donated to a designated charity. Our HR person set up the Haiti casual day event early this week.
I haven't heard our final tally yet, but I think it will be sizable (for a small-time company). People have been really moved by this tragedy. I saw the HR secretary constantly handling wads of cash (yes, she is trustworthy) all week long. I slipped an anonymous 50 into her collection box while she wasn't looking...
