I'm sick of seeing Dr. Sanjay Guptah running around with a microphone in Haiti! |
|
Why isn't he using his medical talents to help the people in Port au Prince instead of seeking out all the shortcomings that we are all very aware of. The man is a complete phony. This is not the way a doctor acts, IMO. CNN keeps showing a video of Guptah putting a bandage on the wounded head of a baby, as if it is the most momentous thing!

Just LOVE Quebec City . . . and that drive from Montreal.
Oh well . . . back to Sanjay. I actually appreciate his reporting. Just a different perspective - one from an MD.

I don't think so. One's beliefs and culture are based upon one primary aspect....are your rich or are you poor?
If you are rich then your base beliefs are "I've got mine now why didn't you get yours". If you are poor then you don't have a lot of time to think. It is more about survival.

I agree with the original poster in that Gupta is walking a very thin moral and legal line. He is a practicing MD and is surrounded by people who are dying, injured, and in distress. He should be doing medical work, period.

Real victims of disasters experience and understand exactly how orchestrated the MSM has become, but it isn't to inform, it is to get ratings or perpetuate their political agenda. The media has basically become Hollywood interested only in projecting what they want you to believe as reality.
When I see physician such as Sanjay with his face in front of the camera while reporting that many are dying because of lack of available care it gives me a really bad taste.

people with broken limbs, etc.
Waiting for surgery or someone to set their broken limbs.
Unfortunately, there are no medical supplies there to set those broken limbs or conduct surgery. No IV lines. No blood for transfusions. No antibiotics. One person had his leg attached to a filthy board with an Ace bandage.
What is ANY doctor supposed to do in a situation like that? If the supplies aren't there, are they supposed to just snap their fingers and POOF...there they are?
As some of the newscasters have said, people could very well die from minor injuries because of the lack of medical supplies.
Please tell us all what a doctor is supposed to do without medical supplies...
If there aren't supplies, then a doctor just might as well be running around with a microphone in his hand begging people to donate to relief efforts. He's doing his job.

The media still rubs me the wrong way sometimes in these tragedies and it is because my perception says that the media is there for ratings first. I may be totally wrong and perhaps I am overly cynical.

He certainly did the right thing there. My opinion of him is based on more than his role in Haiti. He turned down the job of Surgeon General, offered to him by Obama, saying he wanted to have more time for his family (I believe that was his given reason.) I believe the real reason was that he is against Universal Health Care. He showed that in his debate with Michael Moore...and he has made remarks which have disparaged our (Canada's) universal care....which 93% of our population approve of. I am still hoping you good people in the U.S.A will be able to have universal care like the other western democracies. That's about all I have to say on the matter.:pals:

68. The stupidity in this thread is astounding |

Like it or not, these 24 hour news networks play a huge role in connecting people elsewhere in the world with the events in Haiti. Without the connection and visuals being broadcast I can assure you the global effort to aid Haiti would pale in comparison to current efforts.
How fucking dumb do you have to be to not realize this?

77. At least he's not like Brian Williams |

who I have yet to see leave the airport. Williams seems to stay at the airport and use background that others have filmed. I'd like to see Williams have the guts to actually get out there in the field and walk amongst the people of Haiti like Anderson Cooper Sanjay Gupta and others have done.
