Poll question: Senate schedule priority: Immigration Reform or Climate Change?
Edited on Fri Jan-15-10 08:58 PM by blm
This is THE battle brewing amongst Senate Dems. This poll is for DUers to weigh in and comment if you like. Some Senate staff eyeballs may be watching.

2. Climate change
It creates jobs and right now our top concern needs to be jobs for American citizens and legal residents.

People in the country illegally need to go home, although I believe they should be asked nicely.

3. Campaign finance reform
..or every bill that comes up will be molested just like HCR

keep these money sucking revolving door practices (and people) in place and you will get nothing of what you really want

5. Yes. But, it isn't on the docket at this time. The 2 issues listed are the current debate.

6. Neither
Brown wins in Massetchusetts and the Health Insurance Reform bill fails, neither will go anywhere. There won't be the votes in the Senate to pass either and thus will be shelved...if not jetisoned altogether. We'll get the minimum government as anything that's controversial will be avoided.

8. I Hope You're Right...
With all the doom and gloom around this place, combined with the astroturfing of the corporate media, I see some rough times ahead. Maybe expectations were too high but I see a lot of motivation on those trying to pull down this Admninistration and the Democratic party. I sense Coakley may have done too little too late...ran a terrible campaign that could mean assured Senate gridlock and an apathetic and demoralized party. Let's hope my perceptions are wrong...

9. I believe Immigration Reform is political suicide in an election year
so I want with Climate Change by default

But honestly we should just pick whatever is most popular. Since the (R)s will attack us for it, no matter what it is, we will have a better chance in the mid-terms if we are fighting for something popular and they are fighting against it.

10. We KNOW Climate Change legislation is three decades behind the planet's needs. It CAN'T wait.
Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 12:59 PM by blm
I wonder why certain Senate Dems are pushing Immigration Reform in front of Climate Change during an election year. Maybe they are more interested in protecting their polluting corporate pals and actually LOSING the senate majority for the Dems. We do have plenty of traitors in our party who play a good game of pretend while their backroom dealings reek of their pro-fascist leanings.

12. Other:
Based on the quality of so-called "reforms" coming from this Senate:

Nothing. Why let them fuck anything else up?

14. IMO, immigration should be dealt with in 2011, post election, so election politics are not driving
