Search and Rescue Dogs and their Teams in Action in Haiti - pics

A French rescue team member and his search dog look for survivors in the rubble of a collapsed building in Port-au-Prince, Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday leaving thousands dead and many displaced.


French military rescuer Caporal Yann Gallic of the Brignolles Regiment leads his search dog through the rubble of the Montana Hotel in Port-au-Prince, Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. The Regiment rescued survivors from the the hotel that collapsed when a powerful earthquake struck Haiti on Tuesday.

3. I wonder why they don't put some protective footwear on the dogs? Would it be more
dangerous to do that, as far as footing goes?

5. footing and the dogs cannot feel
why I hope somebody thoguht about bringing a couple vets... to take care of the dogs. Oh and that would not surprise me... one of the teams was told... it is your turn to bring the vets.

13. I assumed that is why part of the rescue was carrying the dog...
to protect his paws as much as possible?

10. What impreses me is the background story
this shows a level of coordination that gives hope.

Perhaps we'll be able to work together and survive after all..
