An Australian TV crew rescues a 16-month-old girl from the rubble of a house in Haiti.

Winnie Tilin was rescued almost three days after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti.

Local residents were trying to dig out the child who was crying under the rubble. She had been buried there for almost three days without any food or water.

It was Deiby Celestino, Channel 7’s interpreter, who pulled her out of the rubble. He then passed the child to Australian journalist Mike Amor.

Deiby Celestino said: “It’s very emotional honestly. I actually thought it was my own baby that I was pulling out of there.

“She did a great job - she stayed alive for three days with no food, no drink.“

Once the child was pulled from the rubble, volunteers poured water over the girl.
