Remember, Take a break from the news. |
|
After days of depressing and horrific images I am done. I donated money and am now going to take the dogs out for a walk in the woods.
It is NOT HEALTHY to consume this much death and destruction. That feeling of helplessness is accurate. There is nothing you can do but donate if you can.
It is a nice day here, so turn off the tube, turn off the radio and enjoy your life.

2. you're right.......thanks. |

I'm overwhelmed with horror. I was feeling guilty when I just HAD to finally turn the XM dial to some music. Now that it has finally stopped raining and the sun is shining, I'm getting outside with my dog too and we're "gonna play".

3. yes. take care of yourself first. |
|
excellent advice. I should do the same.
you have to be in a good place in order to effectively help others. if that means turning off the tv and watching a good movie or going out with friends, do it. Get back to your routine.
You've done all you can for now. DU has been a very good source of information about what's going on, so checking in here once a day for the best distillation of news is a good way to stay informed. But watching cable news constantly will just make your despair even worse and won't do anyone any good.

4. Yes, there is such a thing as secondary PTSD. Especially if you are a survivor of past traumas... |
