I simply HAVE TO say how I admire the indominatability of the Haitian people!
I have been watching the coverage on our 2 Canadian news networks plus CNN and MSNBC, and am so impressed with what I have learned about the character of these people. I didn't know till yesterday, that Haitians had overthrown their slavemasters (200 years ago?) in order to free their land.

No wonder they are able to absorb the effects of this horrible earthquake...so soon after devastating hurricanes a couple of years ago. Apparently there is a little bit of sporadic looting...but not much. This is to be expected.

I'm so glad your country and mine, with many others, are there helping them at this time!

Let's pray that when the country is rebuilt, the buildings will be constructed with the proper reinforcement this time!

1. They are no more or less indomitable than any people.
Human beings are, first and foremost, survivors.

Some of what has been written about the Haitians in the last few days almost veers into Noble Savage territory, in my opinion. YMMV.

3. As I said,
YMMV. I'm not much for mythologizing.

5. I know some Hatians, here
And they are different. Very nice people. Not bitter at all.

Their attitude is one we could all use more of.

8. We have a large Haitian Canadian population in Quebec, the French speaking province.
They are good people.

7. If I was living in a place that had gone through all the disasters they
have the past couple of years, I doubt if I could stand patiently in line waiting for help like they are. I admire them greatly.

11. As far as the looting goes...

I heard this crap from the MSM during Katrina. White people 'found' supplies. Black people 'looted'. With devastation this horrible, I call it survival.
