They need to be replaced, NOW! |
|
You'd think with so many people out of work that the TSA could find competent and effective people who would provide the necessary security checks at our airports. Somebody needs to be fired and replace asap. This is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.:banghead: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/16/AR2010011602029.html

1. There was no actual information in that article. |
|
As someone who lives less than 10 miles from the Airport, who's husband works there and who is there often enough not to get lost, I refuse to jump every time someone looks cross-eyed.

5. Since the article doesn't even tell what happened |
|

3. I wouldn't want that job. |

You have to be perfect even though you know your chances of finding anything dangerous are worse than for winning the Power Ball Lottery.
Mind numbingly repetitive, the true meaning of looking for a needle in a haystack.
And a certain percentage of people treating you like crap.

7. The one and only purpose of TSA is to protect against security breaches. |
|
If security has been breached, then someone's not doing their job. That's a pretty simple concept.

9. I think the real purpose is to make us afraid. |

Everyone take your shoes off! Hell, I feel more secure already.

8. Way way back in 1996 I discovered a serious security flaw at SFrancisco Intern' Airport |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 06:16 PM by truedelphi
I called the San Francisco City Council - none of them cared to even return my call. (One aide said that no single council person had ever been handed any responsibility for the Airport's security, so none of them would follow it till so assigned.)
I called on the head of the S.F. Airport security - he said people knew about it and no big deal and so what.
I finally called 202 456 1414 (The White House main number) and talked to reception there. The intern or whoever was very much on the ball, and she told me that VP Al Gore has a dedicated crew of FBI and others looking into airport/airline security and safety.
I talked to the receptionist of that group, and she got an FBI agent on the line to hear me out.
He agreed the breach was serious and assigned himself and another agent to fly out to SF Airport within thirty six hours to stop the breach. Two weeks later, when I took another flight out of that airport, and saw that the entire major problem had indeed been fixed.
Most of these appointments are political - the man who was in charge of the S.F. Airport security and possibly a Willie Brown Or Di Fi appointee should not have been given security of a kindergarten playground. The nation as a whole saw further what the politicalization does when Brown, whose background was with the Arabian horse shows, was promoted to top position under Bush.
The Clintons were very good at this. I don't think the Obama adminsitration has any such thing going - though thankfully I have not had to find out. Their receptionist keep you on hold for up to forty minutes - so Gawd knows if you needed to get a hold of THEIR SECURITY quickly, you would probably be better off calling Washington DC police.
