CNN reports that the operations at the hotel have now stopped |
|
they are now on Recovery mode.
Translation, they are done and moving to another place to try to find people.
Expect to hear more and more of these news, and to see the rescue teams spin down and recovery come en force.
I don't envy the commanders making that call.

1. That has to be tough... |
|
They don't think any more folks have survived there.
My heart breaks for the families who are waiting and hoping...now, in vain.

3. Triage is another horrible job to have |
|
I used to work in a hospital emergency department and worked triage, but there is triage and then there is Triage. I didn't have to decide who could be saved and who couldn't. I'm not sure I could actually do such a job.

4. I got that lovely job as a field medic |
|
that two year old (with massive head wounds) and kheine Stokes still haunts me that many years later.
Yes it was me who tagged her black... she was still breathing... sort off, but there was nothing we could really do for her. Horrific train wreck...
And tagged her uncle yellow.
Did it a few more times... but that one has really stuck... I guess because she had the sweetest green eyes (on 8mm pupils, fixed by the way)... and her face looked so damn peaceful.

5. That is the exact situation that I'm not sure I have in me |
|
Clearly, she wasn't going to make it but I don't think I would have, either.

9. You don't have to say "what if". Your call was correct. |
|
Your description was clear. I just don't think I would have been able to continue functioning. Of course, looking back I realize there were plenty of awful things I kept functioning through, but that specifically, I just don't know if I could. But then, I have PTSD, so I didn't do so damn good at it after all, did I?

8. People in the rubble, I think, is what they meant |
|
It's shifting from rescue of survivors to the recovery of bodies.
