Facility for disabled under financial strain
CHEYENNE - Despite funding cuts and financial troubles for similar facilities across the state, Magic City Enterprises here is not in danger of closing, the CEO said Thursday.

However, the organization has borrowed an undisclosed amount of money to meet its payroll obligations, Laura McKinney said.

Magic City's primary goal is to "create opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve individual success," according to its Web site.

It serves about 100 to 150 people with programs aimed at developing skills for employment, social well-being and community living for people with developmental disabilities.

Earlier this month, a similar facility in Rock Springs, the Southwest Wyoming Rehabilitation Center, closed its doors due to financial trouble.

That closure displaced 34 people with disabilities from their homes and 48 employees from their jobs.
