Admins - Please get rid of the Scott Brown adds
They are appearing all over the place.

Here is one from a thread in LBN. There is also a banner at the top of the GD page.

1. There is one on this post also.
I know if you donate you lose the ads, but these kinds of ads are really disgusting on site for democrats!

7. I could never understand that
We as posters are admonished by the rules not to do such things as attack Dems or to promote opposition to Dems running for office, yet here is that ad and there have been anti-HCR ads running continuously throughout the debate in recent months. And the DrugWar ads on any marijuana thread? Like the "This is the line at your doctor's office under HCR...." ad that I complained about.

Just like continually seeing links to places like Freeperland, FauxSnooz and Politico here on DU with nary a peep.

Yet I mistakenly add a link to an obscure site, material posted not related to sponsors or political orientation of said site, and my post gets deleted and I am admonished via email to read the rules. Heck, where is the list of banned/approved sites we are able to paste lnks to? Seems pretty arbitrary and uneven to me.

Any answers? Without being deleted and admonished/banned of course.

Just my dos centavos

4. Why? I think he has to pay for them.
Are you afraid someone will be tempted to vote for Scott Brown?

5. Ignore them.
they aren't hurting anything, and they're completely useless to him to boot. I like the idea that some of his ad money is being wasted on us.

6. I hope you alerted the admins, the ads are automatically generated...
based on key words used on DU, and Brown is certainly a topic of debate, so the Admins don't know the ad is there until they are alerted.

Thanks for the heads-up! I am sure it will now be blocked.

8. I wonder if you click on them, does it cause Brown's campaign to pay DU for
the click thru?

If it does, I'm not going to be the one to suggest that every DUer seeing those ads to click on them like rabid little wolverines.

10. The thing to do is to alert the admins to it.
They don't dictate what ads show up...it's randomly generated.

11. My star lapsed a while ago.
When I kept seeing ads for Pat Toomey, I couldn't take it anymore. Got out the Visa.

12. You have no room to talk if you don't donate and support the site. Ignore the ads

Take some comfort in knowing some of Brown's resources are being wasted here on DU

13. not so fast my friend...
As you can see I donate and have a star.

The threshold is logging in I believe, not whether you have donated.

When I am not logged in and just reading around the site, I see all the afore-mentioned offending ads.

What to do about that?

It is not just eliminated by donating.

It is alleviated by logging in though.

Unresponsiveness by mods for not explaining these nuances in more detail and not more specifically explaining banned sites and providing a list for those wondering is a bigger bugaboo.

How 'bout that for responding to your assertion, snark in your message notwithstanding, but for catapulting my own concerns within one post?

Just my additional few centavos
