Need help playing an old game on my new laptop

I just got a new laptop with windows 7 and I am trying to play Fallout 2, but it wont work. The colors are all funky, and when you play the screen goes black except where the mouse pointer is. you can move the mouse to clear some of the blackens but it resets back bo black every few seconds.

dose any one know anything I can do to make this work

5. Actually looks like you will need to patch fallout 2 to get it to work w/ new OS.

Remember company that makes fallout 2 has gone bankrupt sooooo

any tips, hacks, patches are made by players who like the game so use at your own risk.

3. Try this first

Right click on icon > Properties

Goto compatibility tab.
Check "Run this program in compatibility mode Windows XP"

Under settings check
Run in 640x480 (I believe fallout was limited to 640x480)
Disable visual themes
Disable desktop
Disable display scaling

Click Ok

Try running again.

This is just a generic tip for older programs.

BTW: Fallout 2 = great game.

4. The only thing I can suggest is right clicking the executable and selecting Compatibility.

Since Fallout 2 was released before the official release of Windows 98, you may need to try setting the compatibility mode to Windows 95 rather than XP Service Pack 2.

Sadly, there's no guarantee that even Compatibility Modes will work, but it's worth a shot.

I was going to recommend installing DOSBox and running the game from that, but apparently it's too new a game to run in DOS.

I hope you get it working somehow.
