Karen Hughes: Bush rescued the economy (Raw Story)
Karen Hughes: Bush rescued the economy

http://rawstory.com/2010/01/karen-hughes-bush-rescued-the-economy/

By David Edwards and Gavin Dahl
Sunday, January 17th, 2010 -- 1:09 pm

George W. Bush rescued the economy from collapse, according to Karen Hughes. Bush's former campaign director attacked President Barack Obama on NBC Sunday, defending the record of her former boss on the economy.

Speaking about Obama's successes, journalist Mark Halperin praised the current president's handling of the economy. "He's done, I think, an extraordinary job running the government under difficult circumstances. He managed the economic crisis, kept the world from going into depression," said Halperin.

But Hughes quickly took objection to Halperin's assessment. "I have to disagree with you, Mark, about rescuing the economy," she said. "I think that happened before President Bush left office when they took the action that they did on TARP and the banks have now repaid much of that money but that's what stabilized the economy and prevented the collapse of the financial system."

Hughes proudly carried the torch for the forgetful right-wing Sunday. "2009 was the year of the greatest anxiety I've ever seen among the American people," she claimed.

"People were worried, they felt they were at the whim of these big forces beyond their control," she pointed out.

9. "Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US"...and he stopped him COLD, in his TRACKS...
...er...wait a minute. It was the OPPOSITE of that. He ignored the report, and Bin Laden did exactly what the report SAID he'd do.

Never mind.

3. When republicans move their lips, they lie. Plain and simple.
Of all of the Bushies, I had the most trouble stomaching Ari F and Karen H (followed closely by Dana P). And this aside from the Core assholes Bush, Cheney and Rummy.

4. God, that woman is a liar.
I mean, pathological liar.

Is that one of the problems with repukes? I know they lie constantly, but it's like their brains don't work at all. They lie, project their failures and evil deeds onto others, rewrite history, and are cruel and stupid.

14. The Teabaggers started when Obama took office
and the TARP money had already been passed out to Paulson with no strings attached. Yet the Teabaggers when asked are always angry about the TARP and giving money to Wall Street. I have never seen any sign protesting paving a highway, repairing a bridge, extending unemployment or extending HCTC to laid off workers. Larry Kudlow has been bullish on the economy for months and he has been giving all the credit for the little mustard seeds that Bush planted in October with the TARP. Then in the next breath he complains about the money given to the auto industry and says they should suspend the Stimulus spending it was a total failure. I don't blame them they continually get away with lies and the MSM never points it out. The only fact checking there is is on the Comedy Channel or once in a while on MSNBC.

He must have naked pics of certain people in power at GE with animals, it's the only way I can think of that he keeps a job spouting sheer insanity on the air.

16. That is a definition of rescue
with which I had previously not been familiar (thanks, Douglas Adams).

Karen, why did the economy need to be rescued at all after 8 years of Bush policies? And can you explain why a significant percentage of the people I know lost at least one job during his two terms?

18. Yes, those budget surpluses were eliminated immediately
And then Bush continued to cut taxes on his family and his pals, to the point he was running up annual deficits never before seen. Whew! That was close! We almost might have had some prosperity and a middle class comeback. We're safely on the road back to feudalism, thank you Karen Hughes and your hero, Dubya.

26. "the bannks have repaid TARP"
:eyes:

Newsflash, Karen: we're not all idiots. We know where they got the money for the repayments from and we know that many of them are still fundamentally insolvent and none of them are lending, which was supposed to be the point of TARP in the first place.

So now we've got banks being bailed out on the backs of retirees, savers and future taxpayers in exchange for less credit. We have the same group of managers who brought the economy to the brink of disaster reaping all of the rewards of the Fed easy money giveaways and Treasury's tax relief schemes and backdoor bailouts. Great fucking job, Bush/Paulson/Geithner/Obama.

So I was still in WTF?! mode... ;)

And this post addressed exactly the same thing... I know that they try to maintain civility on these political discussion shows and bashing people over the head is prohibited, but I just couldn't believe the words that were coming out of her mouth and that nobody called her on such an outrageous lie... Podesta made an obvious effort to be cordial to her... I said WTF?!! too and also finally had to shut it off... I just couldn't take it... :wtf:
