and since she is a public figure and a "patriot" and "great american" she should be forthcoming with her donations or nondonations. She's most likely taking the dittohead route, fuck em.

There an awful lot of sick and injured children in Haiti, not to mention the orphans. You'd think Palin would be doing at least something to try to help them!

I mean in this land of the free and home of the brave we all need to remember also that everybody has their own freedom and freewill and as a salmon swims upstream we all just have to go against the flow also, and everybody can think for their own self and pray for guidance and let the chips fall, don't you know!

9. She is so stupid. This is the sort of cause that Christians ought to be front and center of. |
|
No wonder I'm so disillusioned with the strident evangelist types who profess to lead their movement.
Joe Scarborough was talking about an evangelist who had volunteered and was missing in Haiti. These are the people who are true to their faith. Why aren't they leading that crew?

There are plenty of Christians, along with all other races and creeds, throughout the world who are doing their best to help the Haitians.
I just don't see that Sarah Palin is one of them.

No way in hell are they going to risk her making an ass of herself, (AGAIN) on a situation this sensitive. She probably couldn't find Haiti on a map.

|
They probably screen her on topics before they allow her to go public. I assure you, the woman has no idea where Haiti is exactly or she would be attempting to make it about HER. If she does make any public statement, it will not be for a few days; they will have to educate her first and prepare her repeated one liners for questions she might be asked and unable to answer. 19. Here's the DU formula for judging the amount she has given: |
|
1. If she donated some modest figure, then she'll be deemed as callous and unfeeling. 2. If she dontated some gaudy amount, then she'll be deemed an attention whore.
This is the wrong subject on which to play politics.

23. It doesn't matter whether she has given money or her time. |
|
The point is, Sarah Palin is always talking about how she's all about "Family Values" and being "Pro-Life." I'm not seeing any evidence of that with her when it comes to Haiti.
Anyone, whether Democrat, Republican, Independent, whatever, who has an ounce of compassion should be trying to do anything they can to help the earthquake victims.

36. A truly giving heart would make a donation and say nothing about it. |
|
A truly opened minded person would not require any sort of demonstration or proof that a person or entity has given any money at all.
We personally do our best and urge others to do likewise.

38. I agree with you. I'm quite sure many on DU here have done just that. |
|
I also think, however, that sometimes people in the public eye can encourage others to help.
Sarah Palin right now is making a living telling the world about her family values. Maybe we could actually see that in action.

You're right...her critics will gladly find something to pick on (including me)...but there's something else to consider here. While the other cables were doing wall-to-wall coverage of this tragedy, she was parading around Faux noise and said nada about this...as if all that mattered was her; oblivious to the world outside. The fact she's been silent (who cares about her money) shows how myopic and self-centered she and her ilk are.
