Does anyone know if people with cell phones are are polled? |
|
This could skew results in Ma. Basically all Ma. voters under 30 yrs. old use cell phones almost exclusively.

2. Young adults don't come out for special elections |
|
Hopefully the Coakley campaign isn't foolish enough to rely on voters that traditionally are not reliable in off year/and or special elections.

A lot, if not most people have caller id. When a number comes up that isn't someone you know, you don't answer.

7. This was a problem in the Obama election |
|
People 18-29 went for Obama about 66-34. Of the 9 million popular vote margin Obama won the 2008 election by, about 7 million of those votes came from the 18-29 demographic (despite them making up barely 1/6 of the total electorate. The other 5/6 of the electorate gave Obama the other 2 million net votes).
But like others have said, young people have lower turnout in midterm elections.
But this concept (the fact that young people have cell phones with caller ID) might skew polling results was looked into in 2008. No idea what role it'll play in this election.

8. I have gotten polling calls on my cell phone voicemail |
|
I generally don't answer unless I know who's calling, so they went to voicemail.
