Dear god, I just don't know what to think now.

Item Live Poll: Greater Lynn prefers Brown by wide margin

As the race to fill Massachusetts' open U.S. Senate seat tightened in the homestretch last week, the Greater Lynn area strongly broke for Scott Brown.

Political observers among Daily Item readers responded over the weekend to an ItemLive.com poll, with an overwhelming two-thirds backing the candidacy of state Sen. Brown (R-Wrentham).

A total of 602 votes were cast in the multiple-choice single-question poll, open to all, conducted over 80 hours from Thursday morning through 6 p.m. Sunday.

7. The people who respond to the Item are nasty and unbalanced
The voting for mayor was right down the middle. The new major won by something like 30 votes. It's gonna be a squeaker and the suspense is KILLING me.

17. You don't really think "Reagan Democrats" are Democrats, do you?
Only Rahm and other fools like that believe such clap-trap.

8. Is that an internet poll or a poll where people are called? Internet polls are notoriously
Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 09:45 AM by Jennicut
inaccurate as there is no voter screening process.

10. After "Together we can" and "Yes we can" turned out to be BS....
... I am not surprised that many are going for a lunatic being portrayed as a moderate.

11. Looks like it was an online poll?
I was just thinking that maybe the results could be due to kids doing stupid shit.

Or maybe it's similar to what sometimes happens here when people put out a call to "DU this poll"...only from a bunch of Republicans.

There could be lots of reasons, really...

16. Off topic a bit, but...
out this way we're always hearing Lynn referred to as "Lynn, Lynn, city of sin".

What's up with that?

Is it the Las Vegas of New England?

:+

18. It a limerick that came from WWII when sailors came here to drink and party.
It's a tough town, used to be the shoe center of the country. Lots of factories and bars. Most Lynners agree that we all have PTSD from growing up in the City of Sin. Everyone from miles around goes there to buy their drugs. It's seedy, not like Vegas with all the glitz.

15. Internet polls are freeped by either side
I could go to the site and vote - I live in NJ. (I have sometimes posted my local paper's idiotic polls - because the results are spun. That is NOT to say that Lynn wouldn't go for Brown, but there is no way that an internet poll can be made scientific.

19. And I bet a lot of those votes weren't even Lynn residents or even in MA
It's non-scientific and internet polls have no security.
