Does Brown Know Something We'd Be Happy About?
In the last 36 hours, for a guy who supposedly has all the momentum going his way, the Scott Brown campaign seems to be doing some things you never see a frontrunner who is winning going away to do. Witness ...

-- RedState.com asking their supporters to jam Coakley phone banks.
-- Reports of Brown supporters openly burning Coakley signs.
-- Allowing himself a smirk at a suggestion at a rally that Coakley should be raped by a curling iron.
-- Hecklers disrupting Obama's speech at a Coakley rally.
-- Whining openly and loudly at crowd estimates at the competing rallies.
-- And most recently, TPM's report that the teabaggers are begging Joe Kennedy ("I") to drop out of the race on the eve of the election.

If you're pulling away you don't do any of this stuff on the eve of the election -- you instead work to get your vote out and ignore the other side. You do this dirty trick stuff because you think the election is going to be razor-thin - or that you are desperate to suppress the vote of the other side because you fear that turnout will go against you. That's the Rove playbook to a tee -- remember, he NEVER won an election going away, but instead had to rely on dirty tricks to eke out victories.

Either this is the only book that Scott Brown and the teabaggers know how to read, or their numbers are showing that he really doesn't have the momentum the rest of Da Media thinks he does and he has to pull out every scumbag trick in the book to win. But he has to know he's been very lucky to draw a dullard for an opponent, the world caught up with him in the last week, and that he has to do everything and anything to win because it's actually slipping away.

At least I hope so.

1. This all crossed my mind, too.
Why the dirty tricks if they're supposedly ahead?

3. He's paying temps to GOTV
Looks like their groundgame is lacking.

Brown Campaign Hiring Scores Of Temp Workers To GOTV

The Brown campaign is hiring scores of paid temp workers from temp agencies to help staff Brown’s get-out-the-vote effort, work that’s typically handled by unpaid volunteers, a Massachusetts temp agency tells me.

Dems are likely to grab onto the use of temp workers to argue that the grassroots energy behind the Brown candidacy is overstated — and contrast it with the massive volunteer effort lining up behind Martha Coakley.

4. That's not a good sign for him
A paid GOTV effort shows there's simply not a good ground game.

5. All of your "things you never see" are SOP for the pukes during elections. They can no more
run a clean and issue-focused campaign than the Democrats can run an aggressive, take-no-prisoners one.
