Dennis Kucinich facing a primary in 4 months, seeking support
I received this e-mail a couple of days ago:

Requesting Your Continued Support and Involvement

Dear Friends:

I want to thank you for the help that you provided over many years to make it possible for me to be in the United States Congress. We're facing a primary election in a little less than four months. And, as you remember in the last campaign, we had a formidable challenge, which we were able to meet because of your support.

I ask that you continue to not just support this effort financially, but to reach out to your friends and in the community in which you live, to get more people involved in this effort to help me to continue to be the voice of people across the country who want Congress to stand for peace, for health care for all, for jobs, for financial integrity, for an America that we, once again, will be able to believe can truly be called our own.

We're facing many challenges in this New Year. But I'm confident that I'll be able to meet them as a member of Congress standing up on your behalf.

So wherever you live, whatever community you're involved in, I want you to know that I'm grateful to have the opportunity to represent your point of view in Congress. But I can't do it alone. And your help for this upcoming primary is going to be essential in making it possible for me to continue to stand up and speak out on your behalf.

Thank you very much.
Dennis

4. is complacency wise?
I'm not trying to be snarky--I'm nowhere near Ohio--just wondering whether the primary really will be a shoe-in.

5. No. Complacency is never wise and I suppose every important election should be treated as though
the opponent is at your heels.

But personally, I don't think he will have a problem.

7. the way the DLC has been alienating and discriminating against progressives,
they might fund an opponent.
I will be watching this and want to contribute $$.

6. The Corporacrats have been trying to get rid of him for years.
The same interests that cost him his re-election to the Mayor's Office have been pounding on this advocate of the people for decades.

Fortunately the people of Cleveland know who saved their asses and remember.

8. We need his voice in the House--if DU is any indication, Rahm desperately wants him to go away
The DLC is no fan of Kucinich, and will spend tons of money to drive him away.

9. I live in his district, there is no primary challenger this year. A couple of years ago, when he was
running for President the second time there was a serious challenge. His second run was seen by a lot of locals as not paying attention to his district.

10. I am not seeing a lot of candidates here
and no primary challenger shows up for Dennis.

I guess Kansas is not the only state without candidates, but it makes for an uphill battle against an incumbent if they don't start early.

14. The Plain Dealer and one of Cleveland's developers supported Dennis' opponent in 2008
I don't live in his district, but I funded Dennis that year for the primary election

12. I will send him a donation. I feel he is one of the few representatives we have in Congress

And, the DLC wants him out

No complacency.
