Help Haiti Without Helping War Criminal Bush |
|
There are many good alternatives to donating money to the George W Bush Reputation Rehabilitation Fund. (See http://www.clintonbushhaitifund.org/) Go to http://www.google.com/relief/haitiearthquake/ if you wish to donate to a worthwhile organization that isn't co-chaired by a war criminal. - B

I can't believe how many people are pretending that this was something other than Obama's worst appointment ever.
Far as as I'm concerned, every dime that goes to the Bush-associated fund adds legitimacy to this war criminal.
I urge everyone to give generously to the people of Haiti, but to do it through credible organizations, not through this disgraceful, opportunist Bush reputation rehab fund.

3. As much as I despise GWB, I think that using him in the Haiti relief effort |
|
does two things: (1.) It will prevent people from accusing Obama of using this disaster as a partisan issue & (2.) GWB may loosen up some donations from people who would not otherwise donate to Democrats or liberals.
You are correct, however, in stating that you can donate money to other reputable organizations that have no connection with Bush whatsoever.

7. I agree that was the motive |
|
I think Obama was trying to get political cover, which is fine, but I think he erred in doing so by calling in a loathed war criminal.
As for whether Bush will generate any money from right wingers who might otherwise not have contributed, I think there are far more centrists and leftists who will refuse to contribute to this fund because of Bush's involvement.
The good news is that there are lots of worthwhile organizations you can donate to that will help Haiti who aren't implicated in trying to rehabilitate Bush's well-earned awful reputation.
