Women in Massachusetts should be scared to death of brown. He believes
women should not have access to birth control if they are raped, and the victims should pay for their own rape kits

1. If that's true, women should be outraged that he's even running. I know I am.

5. This is his stance

Scott Brown falls into, at a minimum, the latter camp. In 2005, he sponsored legislation to allow doctors and nurses to turn away rape victims from Massachusetts emergency rooms if they objected to providing rape victims with emergency contraception.

3. really? I haven't seen one person here claim that
this idiot should be elected. I have seen people say that if he wins then the Dems need to look at their policies/strategies but never advocated for him to win.

8. Personally I see more posts bemoaning the lack of a better quality Dem candidate than
pro-Brown ones.

But it's going to be hard to find anyone to fill Teddy's seat, because they will all come off as looking like pale imitators. How does one even compete with that legacy?

9. I exaggerate only a little.
I saw one person talking about how the Republican winning would be good because it would kill the healthcare reform bill.

Saw another person claiming it would be good because it would force them to use reconciliation and thus (somehow) use the House version of healthcare reform, even though they couldn't according to the rules.

Plus lots more people insisting that it would somehow force Congress and the White House to move to the left, ignoring the precedent of, well, all other cases in history where a Democratic agenda has been stopped at the ballot box.

4. I just got a robo call from the Brown campaign . . .
There was a women on the tape who, I believe, said she was "Dr. Stern" ??? and that she was representing some association of women in the medical profession. Anyway, she didn't talk about abortion or contraception, she focused on the health care bill saying it was bad for women. I didn't listen to her whole spiel, but I hope that most Mass. women found it as condescending and annoying as I did. That said, since we in Massachusetts know more about the "affordable" private choices and punitive mandates we are getting with our state health care system which is similar to the proposed Senate bill, this tact may get some traction with independents who don't know what Scott Brown is really about.
