Wolf Blitzer badgering the Haitian Ambassador about looting |
|
Blitzer keeps hammering him with the sensationalistic talking point about looting. Completely just ignoring everything the Ambassador is saying about people just trying to survive. Blitzer says "Well, we've seen some pretty violent pictures coming from Haiti today" as if its indicative of the entire situation on the ground. Then he implores the Ambassador to use the U.S. as its Police Force.
For the past hour, Blitzer seems to be absoloutely giddy about covering this and trying to make media gold by setting people up with ridiculous assertions or blanket statements. A few minutes ago, he had a family of a girl who was in the Hotel Montana and they ambushed the U.S. Ambassador to Haiti with pleas to save their daughter - even though Search & Rescue feel that the likelihood of survivors is low.
CNN has been great, but Blitzer is a complete fool.
Sorry, had to vent.

2. It's like he wants Haiti to erupt into mass chaos and he's just playing out his fantasies |
|
It's seriously disturbing.

18. Funny, he was pushing the fact that the Israelis had a |
|
field hospital up and the US did not.
First of all, isn't there supposed to be sharing - it is not a competition.
Second, it would probably blow his mind to know that Israel has "socialist" medicine.

19. Right after he bashed the U.S. for not having a hospital (false) |
|
He then had on Bill Frist, who was at a U.S. field hospital in Haiti that was performing surgeries. He praised Frist for all of the work he was doing without any sense of the idiocy that he had just been spouting about the U.S. not having a hospital.
I mean, who fucking cares who owns the hospital? As long as it's there and treating people, it doesn't matter one bit who is operating it.

5. Blitzer became known from nothing during the First Gulf War |
|
So his ego got a huge dose of being treated like a superstar and he needs his fix again.
CNN has been OK. But it tends to try to make itself the story. Blitzer's badgering is his way of being the story.

I have no doubt he will find something similar to say in that vein regarding this disaster as well.

I quickly turned it off when he was trying to push the idea that the U.S. is trying to take over Haiti during the relief efforts.

There's always looting in situations like this.
It would happen if Cedras was still in power too.
And the new austerity demands are just going to make it worse.
When will the former slaveowners FINALLY stop punishing Haiti for throwing off its chains?

13. No kidding. He's still yammering on about the looting and how "bad" it is |
|
The Haitian Ambassador told him plainly, that most of the looting that he was refering to is merely people taking what they can to survive. Of course, Wolf didn't listen.

The stores are destroyed, and no one is going to be able to sell any of it now.

14. That was the Alley Velche angle, he asked if goods were being sold in black market... |
|
AC said they were selling right off the rubble of collapsed buildings - so CNN made the connection that because the goods had value they were therefore 'looted'

16. How can you watch him? |
|
I can't watch network news at ALL these days. The level of hatred spewed by those people is just too depressing for me. I can't help but think how MANY Americans have no other news source, thus the level of pure hate and ignorance expressed by so many in this country. These people and those who allow them on the air should be arrested for promoting hate crimes. Propaganda that promotes hate is not "free speech." It is criminal. BHN

I'm assuming by the responses in the thread that this is a normal thing with him, but I really detest it in this case.
