Voting Turnout and the lack of long lines in MA
If people are discouraged about there not being long lines at the polls in MA, don't be.

Most elections have several races where a choice must be made.

This election is a single race. Get your ballot, walk to the booth, make your one choice, then leave.

If a line forms, it should clear out extra quick.

1. I am more discouraged from the record low primary turnouts as a indicator

4. MA Secretary of State is saying turnout looks like it will be closer
to a general election.

All of the anecdotal reports I'm seeing have turnout anywhere from three to five times that of the primary already, and the day's just about a third over.

7. Primaries usually don't draw much attention.

2. That is exactly how it was this morning
took me all of 2 seconds to vote. The stream of people was steady. I was 116# at 8 am.

3. Check the vote count when you cast your ballot
and ask the clerk how many voters there are in your precinct.

Then we can see how the voter turnout is going.

5. Was just reading William Pitt's live blog - his experience voting this morning
"Things looked even more grim when I went inside. The polling station was all but deserted; one man in a wheelchair, a couple, myself and my wife were the only voters present. But when I spoke to the officer stationed next to the ballot scanning device, I was pleasantly surprised. According to him, the volume of voters that morning was far above average, and way, way above the number of people who turned out for the Senate primary election.

The scanner proved this out. After I fed my ballot into the machine, the counter at the top read 330, which meant 329 people had been there to vote before me. It was 10:30 a.m. EST. I voted a little after 4:00 p.m. in the primary, and remember very clearly that the ballot count on the machine was only 125. To have tripled that count before noon means turnout is very good so far, at least in my little corner of this town."

6. Only one Republican has been elected to the Mass. seat since 1926.
I can't conceive that only months after Sen. Edward Kennedy's passing, a Republican could be the new Senator of that state!! This would be unbelievable. Kennedy will roll in his grave if this happens.
