...because to do so is to wait an additional three days to make a contribution. The earthquake was a week ago; the time to donate is now.

the telethon may well generate donations from those who have not already given. If that happens, then it will be well worthwhile. I support anything that will generate donations, even though I've already donated all I can this month. I'll donate again next month, and monthly until things start falling into place.
Money will be needed for a long, long time.
