A Tornado Warning in LA County?!
And I live in downtown LA, where we just had lightening and a big ass boom of thunder. I have never seen lightening or heard thunder since I moved to LA.

17. Hey girlfriend... Yeah, they were LOUD!
Glad it's quiet now, I've got to help a friend
with a couple of cars at mechanics here.
Fortunately, both are close to home!

Been to look at the river yet?

4. That's not surprising, this storm is really pounding
I'm right next to LA County, in Ventura and the rain is coming down like a faucet is running. The wind kicks up every now and then too.

If they call one in your area, take shelter.

14. Warning or Tornado Watch?
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 04:36 PM by MrsBrady
if there is really a tornado coming to your house, it will sound like a freight train. a big one.

Warning: take cover in the most interior room of your home
do not get in your car or get out of your car and into a ditch if you are outside.
a storm shelter or internal stairwell of a large high rise...

find out what direction the storm is moving and see if you are in its path
http://www.noaa.gov/

Watch: conditions are right for it to happen - but no active tornados have been spotted

16. Tornados have hit in Los Angeles before during El Nino storms.
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 04:37 PM by Cleita
If you look up at the clouds, twisters are forming all the time. Most don't hit land though. Up here on the Central Coast they are a frequent enough occurrence over the ocean, but they call them water spouts here.
