If Brown wins tonight we have a precedent for the path to him being seated |
|
Let Brown follow the path Al Franken was forced to go down to be seated.

4. Agreed, but let's not lose sight of what got him elected if it happens. |

6. It's Gotta Be Within Recount Margin... |
|
Meaning, Franken was able to win his seat as the number of uncounted ballots was sufficient that he could win the election with those balots counted. That means this election has to be within 1% or less...more like .1% and then have a judge agree to it. In the end, this decision is up to the Secretary of State or whomever certifies elections. If there's a chance to win through a reoount, definitely go for it, but if Coakley loses outside that margin, take the lumps, learn the lessons and move on.

7. Dream on. If he wins, and they try to slow walk his being seated, |
|
then we run the risk of all Dems being thrown out 2010.
Sadly all the deal cutting has given the party an Image of Corruption which is sticking. Interfering with his being seated will be seen as more corruption.
Average Americans see The Louisiana Purchase, The Nebraska Kickback, etc are seen as corruption.

9. What Coleman did evidently didn't destroy the Republicans |
|
They're making a comeback.

11. No state election had been nationalized by Coleman. This was |
|
just a state election.
Brown's election was sending a message to Democratic Party. He ran with a signature line: I will be 41st vote against HCIR and I will KILL THE BILL.
The rest of the country will be watching and the best thing for us right now is not to make missteps.

8. I have thought of this several times |
|
I couldn't believe the freaking nerve when the pundits were frothing at the mouth yesterday saying that republicans will demand brown seated early so he can vote.

10. Since I am from Minnesota I posted that earlier |

The republicans can't holler. They funded Coleman's numerous recounts, court battles. AND IT WAS ASKED FOR FRANKEN TO BE SEATED AND THEY REFUSED. So they have no one to blame for that except the precedent they set. And if the Democrats cave they should all be voted out.
