Weather definitely goin on here in the Monterey Bay |
Heckuva storm..a little scary at times because of the water and wind...thunder lightning hail..ferocious downpours...a few days of this and the earth wont be able to handle it...too much..almost too much already with no break for runoff

1. Same here in San Diego, |
but fortunately there are breaks between the storms, giving some opportunity for water to drain away. The ground is saturated though. There will probably be mudslides, particularly in areas that had fires last fall.

6. We put tarps up and down our canyon |
We live on the south side of Mission Valley on the Canyon. 5 years ago we lost about 12 feet off the back into the canyon. FEMA gave us 1K to fix it LOL - (estimates are at 50k) Needless to say we spent most the weekend weather proofing and hoping for the best. It will be dark when I get home but Im hoping my flashlights will show the canyon drop off thats about 5 feet from our deck is still intact. Thursdays going to be scary thats for sure...

10. We have a canyon in back of us too, |
with a steep slope, I would say maybe 50% grade. Years ago I planted ice plant around it and now that has almost filled the area. I know ice plant is frowned on because it's non-native and invasive, but in our case it has prevented erosion and slides, and could help prevent a fire from reaching our house. I hope it works out for you!

4. I'm not used to thunder storms in the Bay Area |
I was woken up many times last night and another one is expected tonight. The streets are beginning to flood and the water is pouring off the hills in Marin.
