Maybe mainstream America just doesn't want Health Care for everyone. |
|
Maybe we are just a nation of selfish bigots who really are only interested in our selfish and bigoted personal goals.
If Brown wins in Mass., and we lose HCR because of it, then I will refuse to listen to any Republican-based group, person,or entity that talks about what a sad shape this country's health-care is in...ever, ever, ever again.
When someone starts up with whining about premiums being too high, pre-existing conditions preventing them from getting insurance, or having their insurance terminated due to the high cost of their personal illnesses, I will (without even taking a breath) ask them (1)if they are a registered voter, (2) what did you think HCR was about and (3) what did you want our nation to do to handle the Health Care issue? And I will wait for answers.
If we want a better nation, then we have to take a stand and fight for what is right.Sadly, it looks like not enough of us are willing to do that. I'll be 64 years old in a couple of weeks, and I have excellent healthcare coverage...so this is not for me. I'm covered. I just cannot believe that others who deserve to be on this earth just as much as I do won't be taken care of when they need it the most.
This is a sad time. A sad time.

(hmm ... for the longest time you heard about how TV dumbed down the past few generations ... here we have the end result ... people voting for Republicans)
a bunch of barely-above minimum wagers that it's in their best interests to make sure that some whiney rich kid never has to pay another god-damned dime in taxes for the rest of his or her life ...

I mean, prior to the Obama campaign pretending that's what 'universal' meant

4. I have NO health care now, and my life means NOTHING. |

This bill is not perfect, but it would have at least started the process to better reforms in the future instead of making healthcare another third rail that no elected official will touch for decades.
And it might have at least gotten me enough crappy insurance so that my life wouldn't be at risk every single day I am alive.
Right now, if I get sick, the "responsible" thing for me to do would be just die. If I was a "good" worthwhile person I would have a job with benefits. Or I could afford to pay for a policy on my own, right?
No one will care, now or then, including a lot of so-called democrats. AND THAT HURTS, but who cares.
Whatever.

6. If the Democratic leadership wanted health care for everyone they would |
|
have come up with a different bill, one that actually covered everyone and started sooner than four years from now.

9. They were offered an insurance industry handout, not "Health Care for everyone". |
|
The Obama Administration acts like the White House is Wall Street's liaison office to the government, and that doesn't seem to be firing up the usual Democratic voters. Go figure.

12. False premise: what was being offered was NOT "Health Care for everyone" |
|
it was "giveaway to health care insurance companies" and "ripoff of regular working people".

And they realize this POS that Congress has been debating almost a year over is not worth it.
I expected a public option at the very LEAST. We aren't even going to get anything close to that. I cannot stand Republicans, and even I am angry at how the Democrats have governed this past year, so I can imagine how other Obama voters are feeling.
It sucks. The Republicans have run this country into the ground, and are standing in the way of any meaningful change. They don't deserve to govern. But what about the Democrats? What do you do? Do you keep voting them in, even though they are disappointing? I don't know what the answer is to that. How many Democrats do we need to get something done? 60? 61? 70?
