HAITI: ANIMAL RESCUE efforts -- update and donation links

This thread is for people who are interested in donating to upcoming animal rescue efforts.

If you believe that it's a waste of money, and only people should be helped, please move along, there is nothing of interest for you here. Please just leave us to discuss this in peace.

Several animal rescue groups, started and lead by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), have come together to coordinate their efforts in Haiti. They've called themselves "Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti" (ARCH).

For obvious reasons, ARCH staff and volunteers have yet to deploy. But a team from WSPA could be going as early as next week, this according to the Best Friends http://network.bestfriends.org/groups/rapidresponse/news/14128/post.aspx"> Haiti webpage. Best Friends is also looking for volunteers willing to travel to Haiti. They've outlined specific requirements in their http://network.bestfriends.org/groups/rapidresponse/news/14128/post.aspx"> Haiti webpage.

2. Thank you so much for posting the links to these organizations. K&R
I'm ashamed that I haven't contributed to help the other victims of this disaster before now.

4. Thank you, I've been thinking about the animals alot too
I know cats can survive awhile without water, longer than humans, anyway. so many feral ones get by somehow with an inconsistent supply.

at least the humans have their religion to give them some comfort (not that I'm religous, but it seems to help some) but the animals must be going even more insane. (*not that it's a contest of who's suffering more, just things that I think about sometimes, especially when looking at my own pets and us being in an earthquake danger area)

5. I made my donations
Finally there is a little focus on the animals... I've been waiting since day one for this to happen. I hope the rescue organizations can go as soon as possible. I can't stand the thought of knowing how many animals are suffering as we speak. I donated to IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) and Best Friends. I hope they will get the needed funds to go and help the helpless animals.
