Fair is fair, no?

Or does Democracy only count for elections and Republican Senate votes?

1. We've always been allowed to pass HCR with 52 Senators
This 60 vote claim is a bullshit excuse.

2. Very bad idea
We don't want to set that precedent for the Pukes when they have the majority. Bad strategy.

7. I usually don't pick on newbies, but are you insane?
51 votes IS the "precedent".

Republicans used it when they had the majority. For some inexplicable reason, Dems refuse to.

11. The reason isn't inexplicable..
The Republicans block EVERYTHING. Short of changing the rules (which we can't do either for the same reason) there's nothing we can do about it.

The Senate is very broken.

13. Using Reconciliation in a Puke filibuster
for budget items not legislative. Think of the implications and the shit they can pass if they gain majority.

You are sweet but I'm a big girl and love the discussion. I don't feel picked on. Really.

14. How many times did the Repubs pass legislation without a Dem filibuster?
The whole "filibuster" argument is just stuff. It's a threat that we ALLOW to be hung over our heads. It's a boogeyman.

...and I respect that you hold your ground.

9. What good did the filibuster do us anyway when we were in the minority?
It's a good strategy because getting it passed will help us in coming elections.

4. You must refer ot the Senate rules.

As long as any legislation needs 60 votes, that legislation will be raped with a curling iron.
