Okay, so we have Brown instead of Coakley............. |
|
The 60 vote thing never seemed to matter to me. The 59 Dems were never united anyway. Coakley is a Dem in vote only, other than that she doesn't impress me. Of course I had hoped she'd win, but the majority of the people in Mass didn't agree. The Dems can still pass the HCR (for what the watered down thing is worth.) Brown could prove to be amusing.....perhaps many Americans will see the ugly side of the Teabagger credo (and the birther bs.) History and philosophy show that events happen when their time is ripe. I'm a lifelong fourth generation Democrat, and have always voted that way for nearly 40 years. Some times you can only be an observer.

Yeah. Whether we fail to pass legislation because we don't have 60 votes or 61 or 59, what does it matter, really? I am very sad we lost this race, and I think Brown is a miserable, nasty piece of scum. But I'm looking for the bright side.
Maybe we could just pass the bills we want with 51 votes, by any means necessary -- disable the fillibuster if we have to. I don't know all the procedural options, but I hope Reid and the rest are ready to take advantage of them. Last I checked, we still have a freaking majority!!!
