HEY guys -- the DNC is *not* the same as the DSCC |
|
The DSCC or Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is the group that would have been responsible for helping the Coakley campaign.
The DNC has a zillion other responsibilities. Winning and keeping the Senate is only marginally their responsibility. (Although one can make a case that the leader of the DNC sets the tone.)
Just wanted to clear that up. Feel free to resume your regularly scheduled teeth-gnashing.

1. Yeah, it's a seperate entity, but both are occupied by the DLC |
|
The DSCC and it's counterpart the DCCC have deliberately recruited corporatists, blue dogs, and other useless tools for years.

2. Not knowing any of the people who work at either place, |

I can neither agree nor disagree.
If you're referring to candidates, though, it's my impression just from the races I've been involved in that the DNC and the DSCC don't do very much candidate recruiting. But it could be different in other states.

8. Rahm Emanuel and Chuck Shumer were all over the 2006 congressional races |
|
eliminating actual Democrats and replacing them with useless "centrists" and blue balled cowards when ever possible.
The DNC had no connection with them then - quite the opposite, as a true Democrat - Howard Dean - was the party chairman then, and while he couldn't officially take sides, the organization he founded (DFA) was recruiting actual Democrats for office.
Difference between then and now is that Tim Kaine is a DLC tool, just as Terry McUseless was.

it's not like they were stretched too thin.
Dean had a 50 state strategy - Kaine couldn't even manage 1.

But at the moment, it sounds like the gospel truth.
crispini makes a great point, but I would counter that there should have been more of a joint effort between the DNC, DSCC, etc. to make sure Kennedy's seat stayed blue and that the Kennedy family was spared the embarrassment of replacing Ted with a teabagger who supports torture and posed naked for Cosmo.

Yeah. Not that I don't necessarily agree. I just, you know, want people to get these things right. :D

I'm really fed up with Rahm (if that's where this is coming from) and whoever else is driving strategy up there.
