Democrats will never be strong unless they go back to their working class

roots and that means forming labor unions and belonging to labor unions. A lot of those tea baggers are just working class shlubs like many of us, but they don't have a strong union leadership to explain to them the nuts and bolts of politics and how not to vote against their own best interests. This is how we got our good Democrats in the past who were union backed.

9. Not that many hard working blue collars are union any more since Reagan went about

union busting and this was the reason the Republicans did it through him. They knew without the solidarity of union leadership pointing them in the right direction, they would follow the first politician with a shiny new truck or whatever was new and shiny that they promised them.

I notice many of working class people - low income are solidly GOP aoround here. They basically vote against themselves but they they are none the wiser. We need to get them on board.

19. Dems definitely need to get back to their working class roots

I heard the vice chair of the DNC on Rachael Maddow saying that the democratic party needs to focus on regulating the banks. getting the banks to help working class people stay in their homes, and the dems need to work on getting those working class people back to work. Yeah well, we'll see. With so many dems taking money from the corporations I am going to have to see some serious working class policies being passed before the dems win me back. Just talking about it is not going to win votes. They have to actually start passing policies that help the working class and not the big corporations. The proof is in the voting record.

21. This is why we need unions to push our Democrats into doing the right thing.

We need a united front of many of us. This is the principle of collective bargaining whether arguing for wages and rights from an employer or getting your elected representatives to work for you. Many united as one are far more effective than individuals trying to achieve the same goal.

Poor people have nothing to lose. The working poor still think they have something to lose. They believe they have a chance to make it big one day.
