Does anyone recall February 15, 2003?

We certainly put on a better show than those loony "teabaggers".

Do you think we're angry enough to go demand health-care reform?

1. If Fox & CNN didn't film it, it didn't happen.
I am still amazed at how easy Americans can forget the recent past so easily.

3. I remember, that, too...
I took part in an "action," led by MoveOn, contacting CNN. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets, in numerous countries, to protest this anticipated preemptive war, but CNN wasn't covering it. This even happened in my small town, and I was there, couldn't believe the turnout, but the local newspaper only printed a pic of the lone "support the troops" guy, with his sign. :-(

2. The media ignored us
Actually, they derided as traitors and threatened our lives. The powers that be had law enforcement (though I am sure that law "enforcement" was more than happy to spy on the liberals) infiltrate our organizations all the while letting the Timmy McVeigh's run free.
They did not give us the time/respect the tea parties have been given.

4. oh, I remember it well. I live in one of two cities in the entire world where the police tear-
gassed the peace activists (in greece, however, some of the crowd were actually throwing cocktails at the police--here, the crowd was actually leaving)

and yet, the msm acted like the millions gathered all around the world simply didn't exist.

5. All sound, no fury
You marched, and... then what? Cleared out nicely when the cops told you it was time to go home? Dispersed after a while to pick up some McNuggets?

Walking around with signs isn't going to do any good, no matter how large and photogenic a mass of people you happen to pick up. As far as effectiveness is concerned, a million people with slogans and signs is exactly the same as ten people with slogans and signs. The only difference is potential.

If every person in that picture had decided to sit down and break out the bag lunches, ignored police demands to disperse, they would have been immovable. They would have shut down the streets they were on. A million people who won't let themselves be budged is a force to be reckoned with.

I'm not bagging on them, it does take balls (or what have you) to go out into a situation like that with all its potential dangers. But simply carrying placards and having a sing-along isn't going to get anything done.
