One local activist's take on the Massinine election. |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 12:42 AM by mistertrickster
Brown beat Coakley and I have to admit my prediction he wouldn’t was wrong.
Now the question is why.
My personal belief (and I may be wrong as I was wrong before) is that Obama fired up the liberal base with “change we can believe in.”
Then when we worked our arses off and got him elected, he became the Great Compromiser who was willing to wheel and deal away anything to get the illusion of a done deal.
The DNC calls me for money, and I tell them to go to hell. The Organizing For America people call me, and I tell them, “when you do something for me, I’ll do something for you.” MoveOn e-mails me and tells me to call for Coakley and I say, “so the Dems can bail out more big money speculators? Cram it.”
I can’t speak for the voters of Mass. But I can speak as a long-time Democratic activist.
You Democrats can’t win without people like me. And people like me are not going to work for Republican-lite. We’re going to walk away.
Tonight, we walked away.

2. The best summation of events I've seen yet tonight |

I am a lifelong Democrat. For the first time, I am considering walking to another party.

3. Before the election I read that Obama's great weakness was |
|
that he compromised too quickly and too much. At this time that appears to be true.
Is it possible that this health care reform was much bigger and more complicated than he anticipated? We've sure spent a lot of time on it.
His education proposals fly in the face of the unions that elected him. That's not good either.

5. and here I thought it had to do with vacations, baseball, flip-flops, |
|
not shaking hands, and not going out there and campaigning and shit!
You'd think that folks would vote for a candidate they liked and believed in... no matter who is sitting in the White House.

6. Folks *will* vote for a candidate they like and believe in |
|
But, if you want them to vote for a weak candidate they neither like nor believe in, you need a competent, popular party to back her up.

F U , I m broke, my car is broke, my roof is leaking and we have taken 75% loss of personal income since 95 and 45% of that since 2002 and you bail out the f ing banks but bail on healthcare reform, bank reform on mainstreet. F off. I will be going to town to unregister as a dem voter, I have voted solid for D for 30 yrs. That went to move on, DNC and every one else asking me for money. I live on 1/3 of poverty level my partner who is a professional has taken such big hits in his pay due to downsizing and outsourcing that we are not making it and I am disabled and they give the mf bankers billions while I try to figure out how to pay for food, and I know that many other Americans are in worse shape. So Fuck the DINOS they can all go to hell. Yea the rpigs will be back in at least they tell us they are going to fuck us over we cant get much worse off, believe me we have been there when we were both completely unemployed.

8. Attitudes like this play directly into the hands of the Lysentopolists who control the DLC. |
|
You're simply giving them more power, which they will use (as they have always done) to undermine core American values.

Obama is going to have to get a clue. No one has ever been a great president by continually COMPROMISING.
*****
BTW, what's a Lysentopolist? I'm not familar with that word and I can't find it in the dictionary.
