Tomorrow and the rest of 2010 after tonights MA results |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 03:59 AM by Kevin Spidel
Dear GOP pundits (Fox News especially),
I am going to sleep tonight and better not hear you in the morning talking about the MA Senate win for the GOP being symbolic of anything. I know I will hear it... but lets be very honest, this was about campaign execution over message. This was not a message win. This is not a sign of things to come.
Simply put, the Democratic Party took this race for granted until it was too late. Lesson learned: Traditional Field Campaigns WIN! This is not a "recall on Obama." It is simply a field campaign run right. GOP wins this time. In 2010, the Dems bring out traditional field and will rock this.
This is a wake up call to Democrats that message packaging and media buys don't win elections alone. This is about shaking the hands and knocking on the doors. It is about cutting turf and executing a strong field campaign. Democrats will not take these seats for granted in 2010. Democratic field campaigns are begin built strong for 2010. Door to door, our issues win. It is a quantifiable fact! We will knock on every door and you will see the results of a well executed field.
The ID's started on January 1st for most races. Our field polls are showing us completely in sync with the average American mindset.
So please, STFU Fox News!
Sincerely,
A Democratic Hack.

1. There was quite a "get our the vote effort. I don't think that is what lost it |
|
This was a big seat, both in terms of importance and in terms of history, and I think when we look back at it the amount of "on the ground" energy was probably pretty large in terms of effort. I am not sure that can be to blame.

2. GOTV without ID'ed voters... |
|
is just random noise. There were no ID'ed voters toward a win goal because the party/staff took this one for granted. They did not ID voters to execute a solid GOTV effort.

3. The GOTV effort, like the rest of the campaign... |
|
...was pretty extensive for the last four days of the campaign, but was virtually non-existent before then.

typical DCCC politics, media buys and small public appearances do not cut. What pisses me off is not that he won, but that she went on vacation during the last 45 days of the campaign and now we see the great historical Kennedy's seat filled by a slick talking schmuck. Just Disgraceful. NEVER take the polls and votes for granted...NEVER!!!!
I heard a great quote today skimming through the bytes this morning..."to blame is to loose the game" In other words, OFFENSIVE not DEFENSIVE messaging.
If any good comes out of this I hope it is Obama will grow a pair!
Great points Kevin!
