Republicans are a bloc, Dems are coalitions.
I saw that on a TPM post earlier and it's beginning to make a lot of sense after the last day. What other explanation could there be for GWB getting everything he wanted with slim majorities, while B. Obama's agenda is threatened with "only" 59 senators? With the cautious statements from Bayh and Webb, along with the group that managed to water down HCR, I'm not sure how to solve this when it comes to legislation. Especially progressive legislation.
