"All politics is local"
When you forget that, you are doomed. Candidates should be focusing on immediate issues of their constituency. They need to be seen in all areas listening.

It is madness to tie any political race to a huge overall policy such as health care reform. While Teddy was the leader of that movement, he also made sure to build a platform on many local issues that would help his constituents. He was a master at getting to know the people of his state.

The candidates will have to address policies of the party, but they will have more to stand for than just those problems.
