Brown is completing Kennedy's term, right? So, he is up in 2012 |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 10:04 AM by hlthe2b
Brown is elected to complete the less than three years on Kennedy's original term. Keep this in mind, as folks fight their anger, depression, and other stages of grief. We WILL take this seat back in 2012. WE HAVE TO, for Teddy... for the sake of the Nation.

And he won't be able to run from his record. I predict a perfect record of "no" votes on anything Mass voters hold dear.

3. With the right candidate running a strong campaign |
|
I think we can re-take the seat in 2012. Meanwhile between now and the election, anything can happen that might change the dynamics of political discourse, in MA and in the nation. Don't get complacent and take nothing for granted.

22. Hmmm, a former state senator |

with a partial US Senate term running on a platform of change? Where have I heard that before?
I wouldn't be surprised - but that would essentially me he starts campaigning for it this year.

7. why does it have to be "For Teddy"? |
|
Shouldn't we run a candidate of substance in 2012? Maybe Barney Frank?

We should run a candidate of substance to regain the seat occupied for 46 years by Teddy (Barney Frank or any number of good candidates). We need a candidate of substance in the mold of Ted Kennedy, for Massachusetts and for the Nation. What part of that do you disagree?
Your comment seems to have a real edge to it, but perhaps I just don't understand what you meant to convey.

16. I meant, running on a message of "For Teddy" isn't going to win elections |
|
we just ran someone on the message "For Teddy" and it got a guy with a pickup truck elected to that seat.
No one else can be Teddy and I think anyone who tries to lay claim to being the next teddy is about as dumb as pukes running around trying to sell themselves as the next reagan.

That means that the new head of the DNC has time to find a viable candidate that can win!
By the way, Brown won because of folks who were angry, depressed, and grieving over the BS that's going on in Washington.

11. No, for MA, not for Teddy. Claiming "ownership" and "dynasty" did not help Coakley |

this election.
As more and more people fall into abject poverty, the thoughts of political dynasties, will NOT get us any more democratic votes.
RIP Teddy - and with respect, let him go?

12. With a progressive Win Every Vote strategy. |
|
Not letting a Republican like Brown pretend he is not a Greedy Obstructionist Plutocrat but being sure voters are clear that Republican Brown is part of the Republican party that opposed any reform at all.
President Obama won cross over votes of old-fashioned (pre-hard-right) Republicans and Independents with his populist campaign messaging, like support of the public option. Many voters knew how badly the Bush Gang had destroyed our country and wanted significant change.
Seeing Democrats get their super majority and then toss out the most effective aspects of HCR to grovel for one little Republican vote was very demoralizing. I hope Democrats stand up in support of their party platform and drop the dumb pretense that bipartisanship is possible with the New GOP of Newt Gingrich and Frank Lutz. We all knew it was a pretense from day one. Watching that fake bipartisan Let's Pretend has been really depressing.
Voters Deserted the GOP in droves to vote for our President. So cozying up to the party they left seems really counter-productive.
I hope Democrats will fight for Democratic ideals again.

15. Yes, and with it being a national election and Obama again on the ticket, |
|
the Dems will have a strong candidate to take down Brown. Hey, that's a nice slogan.."Take Down Brown". Obama had a good first year and if he can get things done and stay strong ,the Dems can gain a Senate seat in 2012.

He more than anyone has to vote, remembering that he's up for re-election soon. Which means that he needs to think hard as to why he was elected in the first place.
