Welll I give up.. Good luck all..

Now I will continue to vote every chance I get.. usually for democrats.. but I will stop posting much.. even going to political sites.. or watching news channels.. will watch the food channel more.. If the rest of this country can be fooled by the yellers and screamers on the right.. while those on the left are left defenseless and manned by cowards who are too afraid to move.. Why waste the energy.. until I see SOME signs that democrats have gotten their balls back it is not worth the effort.. Life is too short.. Plan to have a good garden this year.. cook more for friends.. watch there kids baseball games.. and just forget about politics.. it will also help my stomach..

3. Ignore the assholes who will roast you for this
You have to make your own decisions on this stuff. If it's not healthy for you, that's for you to decide. Good luck.

5. I dont think anyone was fooled... you cant just put a (D) behind a name and expect people to vote
for them.

People do odd things when they get pissed off and people are really pissed off.

Hopefully they've learned that lesson for the 2010 elections.

oh yeah congress and president Obama btw....get the fuck off your asses and do something!

Get us out of Iraq
Get us out of Afghanistan
Get us out of Debt
and fricken do the goddamn things you promised you'd do!

I think thats the mentality going round right now.

17. And, if those things are not done, we will know for certain that they are
not working in our best interest. The question then becomes: "Why aren't they working in our best interest?"

I know how frustrating and angering this all is, and I can't blame you for wanting to drop out for a while.

Come back energized and ready to resume the good fight. Take care, Sam. :)

7. I don't blame you
I'm close to my breaking point as well, what is the point of winning all 3 branches of power in 2008 if we can't get anything in return. Health Care reform should have been done months ago. The Democrats are blowing it in on an epic scale. And then a republican, Brown, who will be the new Tom Delay, wins in Democratic stronghold Massachusetts. It's hard not to get discouraged by all this.

9. Look somewhere above and behind you because the OP's point
went right over your head.

While the Teabaggers have apparently gotten their shit (and shit it is) together, Dems stand by bickering with each other. While the Teabaggers organize their rallys and their talking points, Dems stand by bickering with each other. While the Teabaggers work on getting out their vote, Dems stand by bickering with each other. While the Teabaggers have grown some balls, Dems stand by bickering with each other.

even on a local level, to help the Democratic party.

I didn't miss his point. The "Dems" aren't some OTHER people. They are us.

16. In other words, just voting Democratic isn't enough for you? One must
allow his/her life to be consumed by activism to be a legitimate Democrat?

Have you ever thought that perhaps the OP can do a better job of bringing his friends (for whom he plans to cook and whose children he plans to encourage and cheer as they grow up) around to his way of thinking, thereby converting them to a Democratic vote by osmosis, simply by showing them how a good Democrat lives his life, first admiring and then emulating it? And coverting votes to Democratic candidates is, after all, what we're all here for, right?

19. "consumed by activisim"
???

So the choice according to you is "consumed by activism" or just pulling the Dem lever on Election Day?

I think I see the problem.

20. You think you see what problem?
Pulling that Dem lever is a statement all by itself, whether one posts on a website or goes out knocking doors or not.

So, what is this problem you see? I see a problem too. You think in order to be a good Democrat, one has to to what you think one should do. Another problem with you is you completely ignored most of my post, choosing instead to concentrate on three words of it.

28. If that is what he needs to do
then that is what he needs to do. It is wearing to the psyche to work hard for a party and have it give you the back of your hand esp now when the need is so great. A break from it all can fill the well back up. I say happy food tv viewing.

10. I agree with you
I've been here fr years and still have a low post count. I watch TRMS and about nothing else in the news department. I used to read here for many hrs a day and night but in the last year I've slowed way down.I'll do the same for the news channels too. I live where radical Fox lies watchers are numerous. I've joined the Human Rights Task Force in my county because the hate is resurfacing, and not only with Aryans but militias too. It's gonna get bad folks. Hang on for a very bumpy ride not only here in N Idaho, but all over the country.

14. I'm nearly there myself, samrock. What's the point of having
a supermajority if you can still have your policy initiatives and legislation squashed my a superminority?

I wish you luck and lots of happiness. Cooking for friends and watching their kids play ball is just about as worthy a replacement of your current frustrations as I can imagine.

21. I likewise have wondered why I care so much about our fucked up national politics...
when the real game that affects me the most is local politics, which I have indeed been dabbling more in.

I really do want to start ignoring the feds, no matter who is in charge. They are a bunch of corporate-arse-licking fuck-ups, no matter which party is in control.

22. Unfortunately, the national stage brings us stuff like HCR. Personally, I'm sick
of Washington usurping the Constitutional authority of the States. If I've interpreted it correctly, the Constitution suggests that HCR should be an issue addressed by each state, not the federal government.

I garden much more. I need peace in my daily life.

Life is so very short.

Some call it giving up, I call it sanity.
