People are out in force spinning potential Democratic losses as something unique to Obama.

Fact is, one of the rare times that the shift was positive was after 9/11.

In 1994, Dems actually lost nine Senate seats when Richard Shelby switched to Republican.

2. After glancing at your graph, and it is a great visual,
both parties manage to actively disappoint a healthy # of voters.

Nothing the Democrats or republicans offer are what voters want. But that's just my opinion.

It's been my impression that Clinton lost congress when he signed nafta into law. And what can anyone say about the clusterfuck of the bush administration. Bushco's midterm losses were a given.

So why does it feel like President Obama will follow suit? Maybe the bandaid approach to the banking crisis instead of breaking up these TBTF conglomerates. Maybe he should have revisited nafta and giveaway trade agreements. Tariffs maybe? Maybe insisting a certain % of manufacturing is done here for what is sold here. Beef up the DOJ antitrust activity. Don't burden the middle or working class with one more mandate or tax for ANY reason at all.

I don't claim my thoughts have any particular validity.
