Now, the Democratic Party will be unable to do with 57(2) what they were unable to do with 58(2).
They will be able to keep crying, "We don't have the votes." Boo fucking hoo. They didn't know how to get the votes before, I don't expect that to change. If they don't figure out how to grow a spine and show voters that they are effective at passing legislation that benefits the American people, they will lose more this fall.
We need(ed) leaders. We have capitulators, triangulators and push-overs.

over Congress during most of the Bushie years.
Could it be the Republicans have some sort of special powers that the Democrats don't? Or is it because the Republicans have monsters for leaders, the kind of people who shove their agenda through regardless of what the minority party thinks about it?
That's what the Democrats need: monsters for leaders. Reid is a wimp. We need someone STRONG as leader, to hell with Senate protocol.
Pelosi is much better than Reid, but she made a fatal mistake in my opinion when she took impeachment off the table. I'll bet people wouldn't be so keen on voting for Republicans if they knew what kind of crap really went on during the Bush years.
And...if the American people are fed up with things the way they are, they need to remember which party is responsible for the mess. (It's not the Democrats. Their main mistake has been trying to work with the GOP.)
Enough is enough! We voted for CHANGE!! Give us change, or get the hell out of the way and let someone who knows what the hell they're doing take care of it!!!
