Fucking with (not actually with) conservatives |
|
Had a chat today with some of my fellow old fart buddies, some of whom are conservatives but they do buy a round. Some were so happy about the Massachusetts election, I heard a lot of fuck this national health care bullshit. I said I had great insurance, better then any of them had. They inquired. I said I was a military retiree, (which they knew) and I had outstanding communistic socialistic health care, which I do. No doubt, veterans will post that they have had horror stories with government health care but for almost 40 years my wife and I have had great and inexpensive health care from our socialistic policy. And we both continue to pay taxes as it should be. I've compared costs of health insurance from private companies and chat with my neighbors about their policies. I've yet to find anything better then Tricare. I guess I'm a fucking socialist (as would be every military retiree who accepts such coverage.)

1. Funny, my Fox news watching parents would agree |
|
They have military insurance (dad is ex-Navy, mom gets it as a spouse of course). They simply sing the praises of this health care to the heavens. They love it and have often said they wouldn't know what to do without it.
I resisted the distinct urge to call them a bunch of socialists for that, over Christmas holidays. I am just not that cruel.

2. Hope you got them thinking. |

And yes, we've all heard horror stories about government health care, but we also hear horror stories about our "best health care in the world" system.
What's most disturbing to me about the health care issue, is that most of those who are against it, just don't understand it. They're buying the RW (read: heavily funded) fear based sound bytes.

on New Orleans radio this afternoon saying he was a military retiree and just loved his health insurance but didn't think tax payers should be burdened with HEALTH CARE REFORM. Conservatism is a fucking disease.
And one of my favorite quotes of all time: "keep your government out of my Medicare."
The horror stories you refer to relative to government health care have mostly to do with availability of treatment, not cost. Any military retireee who doesn't like his/her health care should decline it in writing.
I love my fellow taxpayers and I pony up happily. My wifes visit to the Pharmacist earlier in the week is one of the reasons why.

3. And the cherry on their shit sundae? |
|
Next time you're chatting, mention some news story you saw recently about health insurance premiums jumping again by a double-digit percentage. It's sure to be true somewhere. Then mention your lovely socialist health care. Again.
One or two of them might actually have a 10-watt light bulb fizzle to life above their pointed little heads.

4. It is actually funny in a pathetic way |
|
because when they are not checking out the barmaids large tata's some of them are bitching about the COST OF HEALTH CARE. And these are guys in their 60's and 70's. Fortunately most of the talk nowadays at my watering hole is about the Saints chances next Sunday. We seldom talk politics but a small contingent of "take back our country" were having orgasms about last night's election.

I carried mail for 30 years. I never fully appreciated what a deal it was until I hit a bad patch last year. If I'd been privately insured it would have cost me tens of thousands out of pocket. It's enough to make a Marxist out of anyone with an IQ over 80.

I will continue to happily pay my taxes. And if anybody asks, I think the USPS is one of the best deals going. I can aggravate my sisters in law who live 1,200 miles away for a mere 44 cents.

11. The only thing stopping that |

is fake patriots and their conservative values. Hell I'd pay more taxes for the health insurance we have now. But I'm just a namby pamby liberal.
