If not now, then when?
I just don't get it. We had a super-majority for almost two years in the Senate. We have a very comfortable lead in the House. We have the White House. And yet we still couldn't get jack shit done. If we can't get anything done under these ideal circumstances, then when will we EVER be able to get anything done?

When I came back to DU about a month ago, I was told by many that I wasn't being optimistic enough. Maybe that's because I've watched our Congress squander chance after chance to get something done. Why should we be allowing the rethugs - and especially the Tea Party nutjobs - to dictate our agenda? When Bush was in office, he had a much smaller majority in Congress, yet he could get pretty much almost anything he wanted. Why? Because the rethugs, as putrid as they are, were able to corral their members, keep them in lock-step with *'s agenda, and they could count on a handful of DINOs as well.

We STILL have a majority in Congress. But if we can't get our own party on board, if we can't unite, then we're fucked. The rethugs will seize upon this, we'll be labeled as a "do-nothing" Congress, and we will lose even more seats in November.

It's time to tell the repukes to go fuck themselves, and tell the "blue dogs" that it's put-up or shut-up time for them. Either they're with us or they're with the repukes.

As for health-care, let's do it the correct way now. We need single-payer. We don't need to be putting the for-profit insurance companies in control. If we can't get single-payer passed now, then when?

3. you SERIOUSLY don't get it????
The Dems have not represented average people since Reagan. Where have you been???? The party got taken over by corporatists and we've LONG since been beyond the point where anyone even remotely progressive is rended utterly powerless. This is what voting for Shitty over Slightly More Shitty gets you - SHIT.
