Something very interesting on TPM... dems are relieved?
this is how it starts:

"I want to recommend that everyone read the email we just got from a Senate staffer who will have to remain anonymous. Here's one part of the email that stood out to me. The whole thing is after the jump ...

...The worst is that I can't help but feel like the main emotion people in the caucus are feeling is relief at this turn of events. Now they have a ready excuse for not getting anything done. While I always thought we had the better ideas but the weaker messaging, it feels like somewhere along the line Members internalized a belief that we actually have weaker ideas. They're afraid to actually implement them and face the judgement of the voters. That's the scariest dynamic and what makes me think this will all come crashing down around us in November.

2. Did they like being the underdogs during the Bush years?
Maybe so. It may have given them a comfort zone for not actually having to accomplish anything.

4. I believe you are right
and that this is true. I used to think about this when no one was fighting for Al Franken to get in...no noise about it at all..only crickets. Then Ed Schultz started saying it on TV and Radio. It was shortly after that that he got in. But no dems were complaining about it.

3. a ready excuse for not getting anything done
Now they can kick back, stall anything that looks like financial reform, and let the Wall street money flow into their coffers without worry.

5. yep...and this really pisses me off.
What's the difference about dems and rethugs?
i dunno

one has blue signs and the other has red signs...and they just want us all to argue with each other, keeping us busy so we don't pay any attention to what they are really doing in DC

10. the dem "base" that lanny despises has come to realize this was all shadow boxing
and now it's probable that a large portion of that base won't be voting in the coming elections

either way corporate dems win..they may lose seats, but they gain nice lobbying jobs for them and their family members - they keep the corrupt system intact and working against Americans, and finally dim the possibility of progressive political representation

13. hey they don't care
they got their fat checks,
they got their power
they got their jobs and they got health care....
they answer a few emails and phone calls, and pretend to care
they get on talk radio, they get on tv and everyonce in awhile they throw us a bone and talk tough

BFD...that's our representatives

and we are
sick
jobless
no money
no power

only when we wake up do we even have the possibility of change

16. I agree completely that they are relieved. But I DON'T believe they
have internalized the notion that our ideas and policies are not as good. Instead, I believe they have been BOUGHT and PAID FOR by insurance companies and corporations just like the Republicans. While they were unable to do anything, they figured, why not take the money and keep my seat. Someone, please feel free to show me where I am wrong. It is just too transparent for me; I heard on the radio that Democrats were admitting today that they will need to "scale back" on their "wide reaching" health care reform (!!!) now that they have lost their filibuster proof majority.

Please. Let them filibuster against something 70-80% of voters are in favor of!

I am just sick at the truth being revealed here.
